Project: Online Ordering

In late 2006 Pizza Hut appointed blue barracuda to build its first European online pizza ordering website.

The development included:

  • Modernising the digital brand for the 'young professional' pizza market
  • Simplifying the pizza selection and ordering process, creating a user experience that reflected both usability and e-commerce best practice

The site went live in March 2007 and was promoted with an integrated digital media and eCRM campaign.

The online advertising campaign had two types of creative:

  • Brand ads to generate awareness of online ordering with the target market
  • Direct response to generate trial

Both communicated the ease and great value of ordering pizza online with Pizza Hut.

The site experienced a rapid uptake, achieving its yearly target within the first 6 months.
